Mariam Halimi (she/her) is a Registered Psychotherapist (Qualifying) and Clinical Intern who is pursuing her Master of Arts in Counselling Psychology through Yorkville University. She comes to our team with experience as an Executive Function Skills Coach and a strong understanding of the neurodivergent population. She is warm, patient, non-judgmental and is now accepting new clients (16+) who are facing challenges with symptoms of anxiety, depression, mood struggles, relationship issues, life transitions, and difficulties with emotional expression, and low motivation. She takes a flexible and practical approach, pulling from Solution-Focused Therapy, Emotion-Focused Therapy, and Cognitive Behavioral Therapy to meet each client’s unique needs.

Mariam is especially passionate about helping people improve their emotional processing and interpersonal skills, including those navigating the challenges of neurodivergence in relationships. Her goal is to empower clients to identify unhelpful patterns, develop new skills, and create positive, lasting changes in their lives.
Mariam hopes for her clients to make meaning out of life’s challenges, in order to find clarity and purpose even in difficult times. She emphasizes developing effective coping strategies to help clients build resilience and better navigate life. Affirming each person’s life choices and journey, she encourages her clients to embrace their unique paths, fostering greater self-confidence and the ability to thrive during and after therapy.
As a Muslim therapist fluent in English and Farsi, Mariam identifies as a first-generation Canadian and understands the complexities of intercultural and multifaith relationships. Her culturally sensitive approach ensures that clients feel truly seen and supported, no matter their background.

With her warm, down-to-earth style, Mariam creates a safe space where clients can explore, grow, and move toward a more fulfilling and meaningful future. When she is not focusing on academics or meeting with clients, Mariam enjoys watching movies, cooking, trying new recipes, and being a cat mom.

While she is fulfilling her practicum requirements, Mariam will be working under the clinical supervision of Kanica Coshal, MSW, RSW. Mariam's services are being offered at a reduced rate.
